Section B · Travels No. 001
Two summer weeks across three very different Chinas. Hangzhou for my mom's wontons and slow lake evenings; Chongqing for cyberpunk dreams, river lights, and noodles that left me sweating into my soup; Wulong for cliffs that swallowed everything human-sized. I traveled with my parents - first time in a while - and admired how things had changed since the last time I visited.
杭州
days 1 - 6
30.27°N · 120.15°E · Hangzhou
Every time I visit, I'm amazed at how much this city has changed - in a way, Hangzhou is my first-hand experience feeling the country's dramatic urbanization over decades. But there are some things that never change - afternoon strolls around West Lake and some really awesome homemade dumplings.
重庆
days 7 - 10
Chongqing · 29.55°N · 106.57°E
The moment the sun disappears along the horizon, this urban, "8-D" city comes to life. Despite it being ruthlessly hot, my cyberpunk dream of experiencing the vertical landscape of this city became a reality. From neon views to spicy eats to being dropped off at the wrong elevation, I could only wish I had more evenings to just walk by the river and watch.

If you ever find yourself willing to take a rough, 3 hour bus ride headed southwest from Chongqing's center, I do highly recommend you check out the Three Natural Bridges.
